Toledo
Toledo is one of Spain’s most historically layered cities and one of the most rewarding day trips from Madrid. Formerly the capital of the country, it is known for the coexistence of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim heritage within its well-preserved historic center, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Set dramatically above the Tagus River, the city offers a dense concentration of monuments, including the cathedral, synagogues, mosques, and medieval streets. While compact in size, Toledo’s historic core is intense and best explored on foot, making it ideal for a full-day cultural visit.
This page is currently under development.
